What you can do in at the Lapidary Club at the Lakes

Our club has a lot of equipment and tools for your use. The equipment you will learn how to use with the making of jewelry may be the kiln, torch, saws, etc...

This is a list of what you MAY need for the different items you may like to create

Glass Fusing: You supply your own Fusible glass, 96 is preferred. The club has a kiln and all the glass cutting equipment for you to use. The store is there to help you pick out the best glass for you.

Silver Smithing: You can either use silver plate or sterling silver. You supply your own silver.  The club has all the equipment for cutting and forming in the making of jewelry.

Stringing: The club does not have any supplies for stringing, but a member will bring in her supplies teach you how to use the different tools for making a necklace, bracelet or earrings. You may then choose to purchase your own supplies etc.

Beading: You supply your own beads and needles or purchase a beginner package to create your first project.

We love new members everyone from the novice to the accomplished.  The above information is an introduction to the lapidary club at Westbrook Village. We do offer some classes, these are not mandatory. Their maybe a nominal fee. Our club is made up of very helpful members who are always willing to help and teach you. We are here to have fun!

Silversmithing

I've been so busy learning the art of silversmithing at our Westbrook Lapidary Club. In the past two weeks I made a ring and a necklace from a cocktail fork. Thank you Alicia, Barbara and Juanita all the help you've given me.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013

Everyone in the Westbrook Lapidary Club wishes our neighbors and friends in Westbrook Village a very Happy New Year.

We would like to invite you to our first meeting on Wednesday, January 9th at 10:00 AM in the lapidary room at the Lakes.

Lapidary, the art of creating jewelry from precious and semiprecious stones. We also design and fashion jewelry from Sterling Silver and silver plate. You can also learn to bead or string jewelry or how about metal stamping. Also, glass fusing is interesting way to use glass and create your own design.

We are a group of very energetic men and woman. We learn from each other and take classes. The jewelry that you create is so beautiful. But. We also make mistakes. Which we laugh at and go on “life is a learning experience”. Our club is a place and time to share and meet people just like you that enjoy “BLING. B

Westbrook Village Lapidary Spring 2012

Westbrook Village Lapidary Spring 2012

This is the first blog posting for our Westbrook Village Lapidary Club in Arizona.  We are a group of very energetic men and woman.

We learn from each other and take classes. The jewelry that is created is so beautiful.  But.  We also make mistakes. Which we laugh at and go on “life is a learning expierence”.  Our club is a place and time to share and meet people just like yourself that enjoy “BLING”

Lapidary is creating jewelry from precious and semiprecious stones.   Silver, creating jewelry from Sterling Silver and silver plate. Beading, Stringing, Crochet with beads.  Glass fusing is another form of creating jewelry it is kiln-formed glass.  As you can see we are a busy group of happy artists.

In the past few months some of us took a class with Barbara and Alicia learning how to make art from Sterling Silver forks and spoons, we created bracelets and pendants in Silver, others took a class in making Kim’s Itty Bitty Tennis Bracelet, and some glass fusing and I can go on and on
